Bleeding the cooling system

This is perhaps old hat to a lot of you long term X5 owners, but I found it very cool that you could use the auxiliary cooling/heating pump to bleed the cooling system. Just turn on the ignition, turn the heat up and let it go for a few minutes. Remove the resevoir cap and you can see it circulating the coolant and sucking it into the system.

Probably still better to use an Air-Lift pressurized filling system, but I still find this whole auxiliary cooling/heating thing pretty cool.

I heard this is a good trick if you've overcharged your refrigerant as well, can anyone confirm?
