Retro fitting a combination of BMW and aftermarket PDC

So, I've been informed by an installation company that aftermarket PDC cannot be fitted to my 'non factory PDC'd' E53 due to the massive crash bar behind the flat (coloured) part of the bumper.

I've contacted a local parts supplier and the two parts of the PDC mounts for the E53 can still be purchased.

My question is, can the PDC mounts be fitted up to the standard bar, or are the two bars inherently different behind the scenes??

I realise this will mean I need to find an aftermarket kit where the PDC sensors are of a suitable diameter to fit the BMW mounts, but I am sure something can be organised......

Anyway, main question is.... will I be able to fit the mounts to the standard bar??

Thanks in advance......

Why do you want PDC so badly?

I do a lot of reverse parking and I find it a very handy feature on my cars.

Besides, isn't tinkering with cars and problem solving kinda why these forums exist??

After much research I finally found an aftermarket PDC kit which fits perfectly into the E53 mounts.

The SMART Park Reverse Sensor kits have the correct diameter sensors. I got it all fitted up for $400 which, considering the amount of work involved in getting the mounts attached, is a cracking price and much preferred over the $2,500+ price BMW wanted for the OEM kit.

It works flawlessly which ='s Happy days for me!!

Anyone interested in a factory looking PDC without the BMW price, this is the way to go I reckon!!

Sorry guys, no pictures available of the kit. It's already installed!!

The control box mounts in the spare wheel well and the speaker is located in fuse area in the rear right hand of the boot/trunk.

I can take a picture of the sensor mounts and upload it if you want, but I think everyone will have already seen the factory PDC mounts on the rear bumper of an E53??

**Edit, a few wanted photo's of the setup, so I've taken some of the bumper to show the sensors installed!!**

Link to the kit (It's the PDC120 PI). Welcome to SMART PARK Automotive Technologies
