Radar PassPort 8500 X50 hardwire
I just picked up my secound radar, as the title states. the black edition for cheap off a local. I want to hardwire it. since the 12v is always hot equals battery drain. I was told mounting high isnt a good idea? any ideas? and do i need a fuse to hardwire the cord? has anyone done this? any input appreciated. picks will be up later.

Yes I have. It's quite easy. Bought the wire from Mirrortap.
High is good, the cop's laser beam will be huge anyway when it hits you so the placement is null. ![]() ![]() The two prongs with built in fuses you plug in to the ground and positive ports of the mirror's molex plug.

alex,
go with the best - the Valentine1 that is how i had it in my E39, top right, and the display was bottom left, almost in the line of sight... I also had a remote on/off switch, close to the ashtray... in E53 i have the two in the same locations, and the switch was in the overhead console in the 4.6... in the 4.8 the overhead opening is taken by the SOS switch - I will probably tuck the SOS switch into the overhead and replace the opening with the V1 switch... |

What is the SOS switch if I might ask? Some CIA
emergency, wipe everything and detonate , oh shit button ?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() you guys are cracking me up... ![]() ![]() i mean, cracking my code/lingo!!!! ![]() in our line of work, we call them "desintegrators" and "itemisers", devices that make sure that the things don't get into wrong hands, and that the hands passing through are clean hands... too long to explain, and besides, if i explain, then one of the posted pictures will activate self-desintegration programs on your computer.... you can google those terms... ![]() SOS/ASSIST button on the overhead console... i don't use it, so, the V1 power button will do...

Lol at the outdated Valentine One.
Also, if you use the Mirror Tap cable like I did, the radar shuts off when the car is off, as the mirror does not stay powered on when the car is off.
