Need a tool? Rent and Return Program Beta.
The purpose of this thread is to have other members add their tools that they will be willing to rent. So what I will do, as members add their tools, I will do my best to put those tools at the top and keep an up-to-date list of the tool available, who the tool's original owner is, where the tool is, and ETA on when the tool will be available again. So here are the rules: People who are renting. 1. Tools that are available belong to an owner. Please treat the tool with respect. If the tool is broken, damaged, or miscared for, the owner of the tool may ask for money to replace the tool. Since these tools are difficult to come by, tool cost will be for a NEW replacement. 2. You must have STARTED a minimum of 10 threads. Renting the tool out is the discretion of the owner, they may or may not want to rent a tool out to you for whatever reason, and for that you must respect their decision. 3. The tool's owner may require you to put down a deposit or charge you a fee to borrow the tool. I suggest using PayPal. You are obligated to get your deposit back, so long as the tool is not damaged. i.e.: Stripped threads, bent tools, or modifying the tool. If these are present, the owner can keep your deposit. Should the deposit not cover the cost to repair the damage, the owner can ask for more compensation. 4. Please make a schedule of when you will be performing a job and stick to that schedule. Generally, tool rental is 7 days from delivery. Please keep in mind, others will want to borrow the tool and if you keep the tool sitting in your shop for weeks at a time, it defeats the purpose. Should your job run longer and need more time, please contact the owner and let them know. 5. Please inspect the contents of the package carefully. If there is something missing, please contact the owner immediately. Once you are finished with the tool, please make sure all of the parts that originally came with the tool are in the package. Failure to have all pieces may result in you paying for either a replacement part or tool. 6. When shipping the tool back, only use a carrier that provides tracking. i.e. UPS, FedEx, DHL, USPS. Insurance must be applied on the tool prior to shipping. Return of shipping costs are the responsibility of you. Once you ship the part back, please contact the owner with the tracking number. UPS does a service where if you ship a package, $100 insurance is automatically applied. You also have the option to send e-mail notifications to the recipient. Rules to those whom are renting tools out. 1. Please carefully take note of your tool. A shipping list can come in handy when shipping. This way you can take into account all of the pieces. Include a blank shipping list for the person you are renting the tool to so they can also keep track. 2. It is up to you if you want to charge a fee to rent or rent for free. Should the tool be damaged or missing, you may not ask for more than 100% of the tools value. i.e, Sentimental value. 3. Please ship the tool utilizing tracking. This way you both can keep track of the shipment. 4. You may set the rules on your tool. If you choose to charge to rent, please be reasonable. If you choose to rent it out for free, you may charge a deposit. The deposit must be refunded 100% unless there is SIGNIFICANT damage. i.e. Stripped threads(Either cannot be tapped because of loss of material, or material is too hard and requires special tap and die.) If the deposit does not cover the repair, please work it out with the last renter. If you feel the renter is being unreasonable, please contact me and I will act as a mediator. After my review period, I will come up with a solution and both parties must follow it. If not, this experiment has failed and I will close the thread down. Failure to abide by these rules will result in this thread being shut out and the Rental program will be over. Do not abuse it or you will lose it. We all want to help everyone out but if a bad apple comes along... well you know the rest. I will try my best to rectify problems that should come, even though the concept is simple and there shouldn't be any problems. But should there be, I will mediate a solution. If the problem isn't rectified after my answer, you will be banned from the tool access in the future. This is just an initial program. I want to see how it goes first and I will volunteer my own tools to go on the block. If anyone wants to volunteer, send me a PM and I will put it on the list. Please note if and when the tool is available, if you are or are not charging a fee, deposit fee, and brief statement what the tool does. Snap-On 3-arm bolt-on hub puller.
