SRS light on

I had to replace the right front window regulator. In the process I removed the air bag without disconnecting the battery. Now the light is on. I had my friend reset the light with the new Snap-On scan tool and the light comes right back on again. I dont think its possible to plug it in wrong? Possible loose connection? Any ideas.
Thanks

you can't plug it wrong unless you forced the connectors together... did you read the code? maybe it is not the door airbag??

Get a tech who has an Autologic or a GT1 to try shutting off the light.

BTW, for future reference, there is no need to disconnect the airbag to do a window regulator. Just hold on to it while you remove the foam sheet from the door, then temporarily bolt it back to the door while working on the regulator. Nor do you need to disconnect the battery....in fact it's very nice to have power to test the regulator before putting the door back together.

Read the fault code (if any) and re-set using INPA/EDIABAS

havent been online in a while. Fault code was right front door air bag. Cant remember the code # but it came back instantly after resetting. Tried several times. Pops back up as quick as I put it out.

IIRC, SRS faults cannot be cleared by normal scanners.

Peake has a special model that can clear SRS faults. GT1 can too. You can search for the special Peake model number.

I don't know what other units can do it because I'm not familiar with any others.

I set off the airbag when i tapped for power into the seat harness ( I disconnected the harness). I used CarSOFT BMW 6.1 SP4 to erase the airbag light - I did not bother to read the code, as I knew when the problem started. The code was erased and stayed off since... I used the OBDII cable that I got off the ebay...

Air bag light is on

I m currently dealing with the same problem too, I suspected just right after I replaced the two front stock headlights on my (01 x5 4.4i) the same day at night while headed out, when I started the car, the air bag light is on and wont go out. I bought the sr5 16 pin tool peak on eBay for $119 and read the codes: 03 & 05. At this point, according to the book, I thought it was related due to a faulty seat belt receptacle for the passenger front seat. I went and bought one for$138 from bavauto and replaced it correctly, unfortunately problem still appears with the same two codes when I clear it & comes right back on. My friend told me to try replacing the two factory headlights back to its place and see if the problem persist. Any idea guys?

when you did your headlights, did you by any chance "molested" airbag connectors? they are usually orange in color... the crush sensors are in the frontal area (and many other places too) of the car and you might have disturbed them by accident... look again in the areas that you worked on...

You probably right terminator! Because I removed completely the factory
xenon headlight with it's ballast unit system. It is a possibility where I might
be messing around with something there to trigger the SR5 system to come on.
Because the Air bag light comes on the same day factory headlight was upgraded to ebay after market light below. I will check to see if there's any
loose connection there. Thanks!!!
