Help, X5 multiple misfire codes. Stumped

Hi guys. 2003 BMW X5 4.4, idles rough at start up, smoothes out when warmer. Got a check engine light on with three codes. P0363 Misfire detected fueling disabled, P1343 and p1351 Manufacturer ctrol ignition sys or misfire,. Strange thing is when warm it seems to drive ok, but when under hard acceleration the Check engine light flashes for the misfire which can then be felt a little. Keep driving and the light stops flashing and stays on. Hit the gas hard again and it starts flashing again. Ruled out the MAF, idle changes to much when unplugged. Does not seem to have a vacuum on the oil cap. Changed the coil on cyl 5 to no avail. Possible cam sensor? My reader gives only those three codes and does not read a cam sensor error. Could a bad cat be backing up the system at high RPM's? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

You are going to need more than a simple scan tool. Get one, or take your car to someone who has a scan tool that can give live misfire activity.

Another alternative is to get a COP probe that can detect firing / misfiring.

Once you have confirmed that a certain cylinder(s) is misfiring (and all the others good), then you can start looking for the cause. At that point, you can swap a coilpack with another cylinder, and see if the problem moves. I'd also take a look in the spark plug bore to see if there's oil present. If enough oil leaks from the valve cover center gasket, that can cause a misfire. Check and clean all the grounds.Pull the plug from the missfiring cylinder and see if it's fouled...if it's not a light grey, put in a new plug.

Thanks!

I have a friend who has a "real" computer. I'll take it too him and see what his computer tells me. I have replaced all 8 spark plugs as well, there was a little oil lying around but certainly not enough to cause this. Used Bosch plugs. Anyone else ever have this combination of codes?

Think I found the problem

Hi guys, think I may have found my misfire problem. I hear a vacuum leak at the back of the engine. When engine put under load, brakes on in drive giving a little gas, There is a definate hiss from the rear of the engine compartment. CCV most likely culprit. Under the same test it develops high vacuum at the oil filler cap. Ordered a new CCV plate, Fingers crossed.

Well that did'nt work

Hi guys. Update on my missfire problem. Had to remove upper intake on this X5 4.4 in order to replace the CCV plate. There was a metal coolant tub blocking some of the screws. I also found a small vacuum hose about 12'' long deteriorated behind the pass head. Replaced ccv, hose, intake gaskets. That's a job and a half guys. Well guess what? My problem persists! Again, at high rpm, I'm getting flashing CEL and still three misfire codes. Ready to drive this F#c^er off a cliff. My suspicions of a clogged cat will have to be further investigated. All that work and $170 worth of parts later. Thats one weekend I'll never get back.

Why did you change the coil to cylinder No.5? I would have swap the coil on cylinder No.3 with a cylinder that did not have a P0363 misfire detected fueling disable. The last number on the code indicates the cylinder that the misfire is occurring.

Is the engine on your car the N62 engine? Could be the intermediate levers on the engine needs to be replaced. How much miles do you have on your X?

Well, if you found deteriorated parts...then it was NOT a waste of time. Probably those CCV parts were due anyway. Are you still getting the sound of a vacuum leak?
