2005 X5 4.8is - Fault Code List anywhere?

Tried a forum / internet search...couldn't find a complete list. Is there a master list of Fault Codes relating to my 2005 X5 (E53) 4.8is somewhere? Please post a link. Thanks so much

~ Joey

No such list exists for any vehicle made on this planet.

due to the nature of the diagnostic systems, no single person will ever need a list of fault codes. if a fault is stored, the diagnositic software will display the code, and pull up any test plans assoicated with said fault to rectify it.

Thanks for replying.

Respectfully, that's not true. I had a very long Fault Code list for my 2 Dodges that helped me diagnose & fix plenty of issues without going to the dealer. I never pulled a code I could not fix. This is my first Bimmer so I thought I would ask if such a list exists - thanks.

Joe, what I think killcrap is trying to say is that the diagnostic code list for a BMW is so incredibly detailed and expansive that one would go blind trying to go through it all. It is best to pull the codes and list them here in a thread and let members give you some help.....if you so choose.

I assume you're looking for generic OBD2 codes, go here: OBD-II Check Engine Light Trouble Codes

For BMW specific OBD2 codes, go here: BMW OBD-II Trouble Codes

Thanks TwinsPoppa - that's what I am looking for to start with. You rock

Thank all you guys for jumping in. Just trying to get a feel for the BMW and for the community. I fixed most issues on my Dodges / Jeeps for years...now I am driving German and my mechanic for 14 years won't touch it . I have a new mechanic and a new forum. I am in new territory looking to make friends who know more than I do about my new vehicle.

Thank you all

You're welcome!

I think that there was just a misunderstanding, initially, about what you were looking for.

Thank you brother! YOU TOO!! Took me 2 years to find this exact combo / condition. I am looking for a few suggestions for some modifications (nothing major - exhaust / maybe performance chip / etc).

Good job getting what you want.

As far as performance mods, I'm not all that familiar with them. I don't remember anything about a performance chip. Exhaust there's a bunch of options. Full exhaust replacement or something simpler like an X-pipe or H-pipe. I went with the x-pipe. Search and you'll get a ton of hits here with audio too.

Good luck!

How does having a complete list of trouble codes help at all, ever?
I cannot connect the dots.
I mean, say the light come on and sets a code for an oxygen sensor heater or whatever, why is it helpful to know that there are codes for the secondary air injection system?
