Alcantara insert seats

What are the upsides and downsides to having the alcantara seats in the 4.6is?

The alcantara option is incredible. They are rare compared to the full leather, especially when you look at all BMW models. You don't slide around with the cloth centers, unlike the full leather seats. They are warm in the winter and cool in the summer (compared to leather). The matching door panel inserts are amazing to look at as well.

Only real downsides I could think of... not as easy to clean is you spill something. If you have a dog or kids, that could be important.

Here's mine...

I'm REALLY happy with it. The only interior I would trade for would be full Imola red leather.

Agreed on ups and downs. I had Alacantra seats in my previous ride, and a ballpoint pen was left on the seat touching the fabric: it leeched up that ink nicely, giving me a spot that I never got rid of.

Agreed with other posters: that steering wheel is something I MUST HAVE
What car is it from?

Cheers + thanks,
Scott.

Steering wheel is from an E46 M3. Custom built, flat bottom, increased thickness, CF, alcantara, perforated leather and M stitching, and built in thumb grips. Retains the stock air bag and controls. Cost was around $950 for the wheel only.
