Deciphering DME "Code" meaning to specific Vehicle & Engine - Q's

I found a code list and would like to know more about the example below if anyone can give some detail and better understanding of the below.

Examples

1) //0x01300000 DME MS43 M54, //0x01260000 DME MS41.2 "M52B32",
//0x01290000 DME M5.2 M62

From: Bmw Code Sheet

I know that the "DME" stands for "Digital Motor Electronics, "ZKE" which represents the "Central Body Electric" and so on.

I'm assuming the DME "MS40" refers to the model and generation of the ECU's, such for an example; "(DME MS43 M54),
DME M1.7, M1.7.1, M1.7.2, M3.1" and so forth.
My Car is a 2004 X5 3.0i M54 and would like to know more to find more detailed info.

I would like to find more detailed information on Troubleshooting, not only on my car, but so I can also help others.

I have a technical background by trade, but car unrelated in these terms and understanding.
Would greatly appreciate if someone could give an understanding and over view of.
I also found this for "P" type code searching, EndTuning - OBD Codes

However, I'm searching for more detailed codes such as dec/hex values that the usual "P" type codes on OBDII readers can't tell you or only give you BMW specific code values. "Searching Year & Engine type".
EndTuning - BMW Codes
&
EndTuning - BMW Check Control CCID Codes

Here is a link to a Diagnostic problem and Codes that were given to White_Lancer; BMW X5 2002 E53 Fault Codes - Bimmerfest - BMW Forums

Thanks,

~Mud
