I think some of you may not have seen these kits in use. it injects methanol to the air flow.

i have a friend with a 2002 toyota tundra. he bought a kit for 5 benjamins that injects hydrogen. the kit looks very similar to those. now he saves 1/3 of gas per fill up. and the motor has been running better. when you look at the tail pipe the pipe became clean after all the hydrogen.

Water/methanol injection is for turbo'ed and supercharged cars. It has sprayers that you activate or automatically activate under parameters that you set for example certain RPM's. What it does it sprays it into the intake pipes to lower IAT's = intake air temps.

It wont do much if any on a Naturally Aspirated car. The hydrogen thing and better mileage thing your talking about is something totally different.

Its mostly used on upgraded/higher performance turbo and supercharged cars so you can run more boost while keeping temps down.

If somebody wants to be faster an advise: Go faster in the corners - no need for these funny installations. But: that is something that cannot be bought.

Waste of money for the X5. However, I do have a kit in my Z32TT

I have a Snow Performance water/methanol injection installed on my X5 4.6. Primary reason was to prevent spark knock that could happen as I have also installed nitrous 150 shot.

Suggest you check out the Snow Performance website for benefits. While they say the biggest benefit is to boosted engines, they do list benefits on other engines. They say you can improve mileage and performance and use regular gas if you are using premium.

I spoke with them several times before I purchased the kit. I have it set up to add methanol in regular driving when nitrous is not in use. There is a slight improvement in mileage but the cost of the boost juice is some level of offset. I didn't install for mileage so I haven't calculated if there is cost savings and haven't tried to see if I can run regular gas. I was looking for performance and safer performance gain from nitrous.

I will be checking on a dyno in the near future if there is a performance gain with methanol injection compared to normal.
