Actually I had to dig to find it. I believe It's called "Anthracite".
I wonder what it would look like if I changed the front pillars to
that material?

Nah, you prolly don't want to cover your pillars with coal.

Now, alcantara, that might be a better plan

You were lucky that it was covered under warranty. My dealer didn't even budge even when I got the local BMW reps involved. So, instead of replacing the 2 pillars that cost them under $100 and make me a happy customer, they chose to give me a $100 gift certificate instead and still a somewhat dissatisfied customer. What kind of moron BS decision is that?

Wouldn't it look odd with anthracite pillars on grey/beige headliner?

FYI...I started noticing that my pillars started bubbling after about the 3rd year. But it has always gone away after parking in the sun. Surprisingly, it still haven't peeled off yet after almost 9 years (it still bubbles). I've always figured that I'll just peel it completely off if it ever comes loose and if it looks bad enough, I could just replace them since it's relatively inexpensive. Only trouble is that I can't tell if mine is grey or beige as the two color are so close.

Hmmm...upon closer inspection, I'm also noticing that the fabric near my seatbelt is doing the same thing (bubbling)
