My guess, you are burning oil.

Well, I guess I'll give an update.

My father has been complaining of oil consumption still and I finally got back and looked at it. Cheese whiz in the oil cap!

Well, I guess that means a clogged oil separator. Going to do a oil change for it to get rid of the moisture-ridden oil and give it a long drive at some higher RPM's to really heat that engine up. Yay for maintenance when I get back from break.

I have to figure out how to give the X6 an oil change too. I'm suspecting that it will have oil separator issues eventually given how it s driven for 2 miles a day sometimes. That engine is never warm when it gets to its destination.

You sure you just didn't drive it long enough? If you heat up the oil enough, the moisture should be gone, no?

I would say it's the oil filter housing gasket. It's a DIY job...maybe a couple of hours.

This X5 never gets heated up correctly. It maybe sees 25 miles a day and the oil is just at operating temperature by the end of the drive. I just did an oil change to get rid of the old oil though. Will see how the new oil does.

We smell no oil so I don't think it is the oil filter housing gasket. Not 100% sure though as I can't easily see down there.

It goes to the mechanic for a CCV soon. We'll see what they say about it and if anything else needs to be replaced.
