Leaking Valve Cover and CCV
I noticed drops of oil under the X5 the about two weeks ago. They were small drops, but when I looked underneath the entire bottom plate was covered in oil that had blown all the way down the chassie while driving.
I checked the oil and it was dry! No drops on the garage floor and only two or three small drops on the ground at work? Where'd it go?! I put 6 quarts in and called my indie mech and took it in. He said it was bad news. I said how much is bad news $2k? $3k? He says oh no not that bad. He says its no more than $1600.00 I said OK so what the problem? Eventually we look at everyting and it's the right valve cover gasket leaking and the crank case ventilation valve leaking. So he takes it for a few days while I'm out of town. I come back at it's only $1200.00 Like new again, almost. Now he says the engine mounts need to be replaced and a transmission mount. my estimate was just over $1k to get that done. He says it is a bit labor intense. Has anyone had engine mount problems before? -TK
