Suspension rebuild Kits

i am wondering if anyone has any opinion on the quality of these aftermarket suspension rebuild kits. They all claim to be oem spec, and some even come with warranties.

I am getting harsh clunking (feels like the suspension is bottoming out) and i wanted to start with the control arm/thrust arm bushings as well as the sway bar links..

When i have looked for those i find these entire kits fot less than just buying the few parts that i need! here are a few:

Seems to have A LOT of good feedback...

ECS's kit is a no-name for like $750!! lol

If you do recommend to stay with a brand there seems to be a few; moog, myle, lemforder, powerflex etc...

Any feed back is appreciated. I would prefer if you have used the kits or know someone that has.

"cheap kit may wear out in 10,000 miles" with out any evidence is not helping...

They are likely not OE BMW parts, but aftermarket like Febi etc.

I like the style of doing it all at once, but its very possible that your clunking is being caused by one or two of those items rather than the whole lot.

At those prices, you don't have a lot to lose by trying the kit.

Thats true, Its cheaper than replacing just the two thrust arms OE.

I am positive it is not OE I am just wondering how bad could it be? if I replace some of my oe stuff (70k) that isnt worn out with crappy stuff I will kind of be taking a step back...

So no one has tried any of these kits?

Don't do it unless you want to replace it all in 10,000 miles. I don't have any experience with this outfit specifically, but have made the mistake of buying cheap parts because they were cheap and had to replace them because they failed far sooner than they should have. If you value your life, your family and your time, suspension bits are not something you want to skimp on.

One thing to remember is that the eBay feedback is on the purchase experience ONLY, not on the longevity of the parts the buyers got. Everybody is going to be happy with shiny new parts that get delivered promptly at low cost, but where can those same people who find those parts failing 6 months later rate their satisfaction? Not on eBay. Check around on sites like BimmerBoard and BimmerForums to gauge people's satisfaction with these eBay deals; you'll find plenty.

As far as meyle or lemfoerder is there a preference?

They are both great OEMs in my opinion, you cant go wrong with either.

Febi, Meyle, Lemfoerder all great brands.

If you are replacing Thrust arms its highly recommended to use Meyle HD line for longer lasting bushings.

What do you guys recommend for the Thrust arm? Bushings, Bushings+Ball joints, or entire arm assembly??

Where Do I find the Meyle Thrust arm? I only find the control arm (arent these different?)

Are these meyle links HD?

I am starting with the Meyle HD sway bar links. Does anyone have the torque specs on these?

I understand you snug them up, then put the car down from the jacks, then torque?

please correct me if I am wrong.


If anyone does have the torque specs would you mind posting up the other wear item torque specs in the front suspension.
