Remote starters?

Thinking of a remote start for the X. the few that I know of will turn on the heated seats, but only if it's less than ZERO outside...I want them if it's colder than 60!!

Anyone have one that does this or is programable ? There isn't a factory remote start right?

Not advisable for security reasons since the BMW ignition requires the key code everytime to start the engine. This means you'll need to leave an extra key in the vehicle to have a remote start system.

You sure on that?? They can "Chip" the remote starts to pass the signal along as I understand it...Lots of cars do that today.

BMW's use code hopping type security with their ignitions and a chip needs to be in the car. With that said however, there is the option of using the plastic valet key and "disconnecting" (read:break) off the shaft portion of the key. That way, even if it is located, it cannot be used. There are universal key-bypass kits available that require you to place the key in the box and wrap a wire around the ignition. I have found another way around this involving a $10 part, a relay, and the key. I'm hoping to install my remote start/alarm this weekend. I will post steps/pics/vid(?) once I complete it with all part numbers, etc......
