From what I understand, There is a video that comes with this on how to install it. How long does the set up take?

Once you have it running, which may take a while and may need some serial key tweaking(it's all very well explained in the supported video).
But once setup is done,it gives you all BMW specific fault codes module by module.
Either one you use DIS or INPA you can read specific codes, relatively easy to understand.
I was able to level the Self leveling rear suspension after reinstalling the ride height sensors.
As well as find out that timing adaptations couldn't be set a couple of days before my chain tensioner went south, maybe along the VANOS sprockets.
It's a good stuff,I am glad I bought it.
I still have to learn a lot,but it already was handy.
Somebody mentioned that if you have a connector under the hood you'd need a serial port. It's not the case,I have it and USB is just fine.

Interesting. Does anyone know if this is better than PASoft 1.4.0? I can tackle just about everything everyone mentioned on it and it was a bit cheaper I believe.

On another note, On the early e53's (as with the e46) their is a round port under the hood that can ready every the module while the OBD2 port can only read the ECU, so if it doesn't wort at first that may be your issue.

To be honest,I have no idea about PaSoft, but from what I've seen on the pictures,it seemed to be really as easy as check box options for coding etc.

It's pretty intuitive and a great program. Coding is just checking boxes which is very nice but I'm wondering how much better, if any the laptop GT1 system is.

When I bought mine I did my homework and based on what I have read, it seems like some modules wake up using the L bus which obd2 does not have. These modules communicate only on serial at 3F8 address which you cannot set on the USB serial you get. It is only on the built in serial or desktop PCs.
So, I didn't try all the modules with my USB connector but going by the people who tried it I bought a serial to ADS cable from Interfaces 4 Beemers
I did try the usb on an e38 though with only an ADS connector and I wasn't successful with the USB cable.
Did you try to communicate with all the modules via ADS with your USB cable ?
If you could then it good to know.

The setup you are looking at is very good, the seller is a great guy and the software works better than PA Soft (once you learn how to use it). It will work for your E53.
