Ebay GT1 USB

Hello,

Has anyone tried this?

BMW USB OBD Diagnostic Cable Inpa Ediabas Dis V57 SSS V32 Progman GT1 | eBay

Does it work the same as a GT1? Can you program everything in an E53?

Thanks

looks nice! what else do you need though?

From what I understand just a computer that is running 32bit operating windows.

Right, plus time and some a bit over basic computer knowledge. If you have the ADS under the hood then you will need a computer with a serial port.

I have the same thing, but it took me sometime to figure the way for ignition to be detected. But it was just because of 16 pin to 20 pin connector.Note that if you have a round interface under the hood, you will need an adapter and plug the USB head into it,because if you plug it in the 16 pin located in driver foot well, you won't be able to access some modules.

But other than that,it was a good buy.Although I still can't use it at full potential, some connector stuff,I will have to get a different adapter.

Does it give you a specific BMW code, not generic OBD code like P0123?

Hey diyanich,

what kind of error code this thing gives you? I mean, if you have a SES light on.

If you want to check only an SES light it's not worth the time to set a GT1 system up but if you would like to program, change module, debug and all the dealer can do then it's worth the effort.

i c. Thanks for the info. I've got a friend who owns a E53, but his ride has SES on constantly. A generic error code like P0123 couldn't help his narrow down to a specific cause, so he's thinking about investing a GT1. If this can get him the BMW error code, that'll be a great help.

Do a google search for setting up a GT1 system and you can decide if you want to go that path. There is a simpler obd scanner that reads bmw codes I think it's called Peake or something like that.
So, it depends on how deep you want to explore this...
