X5 Subwoofers

Hi everyone. My car has the factory hook up for the subs in the back but whoever owned it before me took them out and from what I can tell from the taped wires it looks like the installed an aftermarket system. Neither one was in my X when I bought it though. I now want to put some subs back in but I am on an extremely limited budget. I don't need anything big so I believe that the OEMs will be fine but I can't see paying $150+ for them. Does anyone have any advice to help me get some bass going in my SAV?

Depending on your mounting preferences, an 8" kicker can be had for $50. You could do that with a plain box and simple amp. You don't need anything really high powered to fill in the bottom end.

Is that 8" Kicker with the specialty box that fits in the compartment on the side where the stock ones go? I want to keep the sub in there so that I don't lose any space.

No, that's just the sub...unless you build an enclosure yourself, I don't see you being able to get anything that'll fit in the factory spot for less than $150. I think the JL stealth box retails for somewhere around $500.

how much did that cost? what type of box are you using or is it just mounted in the panel itself?

How hard do you think it would be to build a box myself? Im not sure how the acoustics(however you spell it) work and stuff though.

I've got mine for sale, but shipping to Georgia would probably kill it's value to you.
