Rear interior dome lights come on when unlocking car?

When I unlock the car only the front lamp comes on. Are the rear reading lamps supposed to come on as we'll?

Have you checked to see if the bulbs are burnt out?

Question for the forum:
The e53s with the pano roof...their rear lights are located on the side above the windows near the coat hanger/hooks...are the regular & no sunroof models rear lights located in the center of the headliner?

i have two E53s, one with regular sunroof, and the other one is with pano... regular sunroof has the rear light in the center, along with the rear seatback buttons, on the pano - everything is to the sides...

Since the "spaghetti" WDS site is still down...here's a link to another online BMW WDS site...all the wiring diagrams for your BMW that you'll ever need.

Any idea what the different wires going into this connector are? I believe this is from the light control module (thanks to Qsilver7) but I am unsure what each wire carries in terms of a signal. Trying to figure out how to install an Alpine PKG-RSE2 and looking for the wire that represents the door so that when I open it it will turn on the built-in LED's of the Alpine overhead DVD player. Right now I am stumped. Here is the connector:

this is the problem with aftermarket devices and BMWs - the BMW does not use dry contact to monitor door status, it is using Hall Effect sensor to report to door module, that sends an iBus telegram to GM module that commands the LCM module to react in certain way.
you need to intercept that signal, let the relay take over the door contact wire and take it from there...
