Heated Seat issue! Please help!!!

SO looks like im cursed with the infamous heated seat failure. I was driving home from gym, smelt smoke, then my A$$ felt like it was catching on fire..turned of seats and found small almost like cigarette burn on seat. In short dealer wants $2500.00 for parts (heating element, new bottom leather, and foam seat) and then 4 hours labor on top of that $3500.00 + gst!!!

Sooo my question to you guys,,wheres the cheapest place to order oem parts..as I may just order the heating element and attempt it myself?

THanks for your suggestions guys!!

Buy a set of 5 series or X5 seats on eBay. And stop crawling all over your seats on your knees. That is what breaks the elements and starts all sorts of problems.

I do believe the heating element is sewn into the bottom leather....so both have to be replaced.

I managed to get the bottom foam from ecs for 40 bucks, but the leather wasn't as luucky...that was bout 700. Taking the seat out and apart is a relatively easy task. I Just took the bottom and the foam to a local guy who does upholstery for many of the hot rods and customs to assemble it....then put the seat back together and in.

Ecs should be able to get you all the parts you need. Good luck!
