When I finally get coding to turn off cold and warm bulb checks for my tails, reverse lights, turn signals, lic plate lights etc I will def pick up a set of these for reverse.

I have invisibulbs hyper white halogens now which are a nice color but def not that much lumens

Hi Guys...

I was down and out with a lower back injury for a few weeks there but I'm back to Bimmers now!

I brought home the a light meter so I can take some readings later when it gets dark out. Now I just have to find the stock bulb I took out

Well Folks the results are in and they are hard for me to believe.....

Footcandle measurements With LED Bulbs

Eye placement directly on lens

And the OEM Bulb Results

I hard to believe when looking at them in person but the OEM has over twice the lights output.

I realize the perceived brightness was due to the change in color temperature but I didn't think it was going to be that much of a difference.

I will still keep running the LEDs because they look great and are bright enough for me but I might try a 15W HID kit in the future and see how I like that.

No Problem man! I was curious myself. They sure look brighter and light up the space behind my e53 when backing up better than the low Kelvin orange light of the stock bulb IMHO I'm gonna keep running them.

could temp have something to do with this? These seem dim in the cold....
Stock OEM Osram
Yes temp could have something to do with it. It was 11 here when I took the shots and the car was not running either I used follow me home trigger. Hmmm

I have the Cree projectors in my puddle lights and love'em. I noticed listings for them when shopping my reverse LEDs but figured because of the orientation of the bulb in the housing I wanted something omnidirectional and not one that's just going to shine one way "into side of the reflector housing". I wish our bulb holder had the end of the bulb facing twords the rear instead of into the side of the housing exposing the side of the bulb.

Although if they fit into the reflector and put out enough light to fill up that reflector and project it outwards it should look good too I'd imagine.
