LED Reverse Lights Installed

Nice. Just ordered. How is it during the day? I'd be worried that its not as noticeable during the day.

Eh, I have yet to find an LED that's actually brighter than a stock 7506 bulb. They LOOK brighter until you put a stock bulb in one and an LED in the other.

So I did what any sane person would do: I put 15W HIDs in my reverse lights. They are WAY brighter than the LEDs or halogens.

I will measure it with a light meter at work on monday and get post which has higher lumens. I doubt it's going to be the stock bulb.

Here is a side by side.... Drivers side LED Passenger is stock.




Your HID does sound nice...I almost put them in my E39 but I remember forum members that did the retrofit complaining about melted housings and harnesses.

A fresh 7506 was brighter for sure. This was 2 years ago, but I still haven't had anything brighter than the HID. The trick with HID reverse lights is to use a 15W kit. A 35W kit would easily melt the housing, while a 15W lights up nicely and doesn't melt anything. I've had HIDs in the reverse lights for over a year, and no problems. I've also left them on for extended periods of time with no problems.
