OEM LED license plate lights

I wanted to update the look of the X with some lighting, but hate all the aftermarket plate lights out there. To me they are just too bright. I wanted nice subtle lighting like the new BMW's. The problem is the part number that I used is 63267193293 which fits fine, but throws a code. "294 for the Z4 and 6 series doesn't throw a code, but they are too wide to fit. I've searched and can't find what resistor to use. I'm currently running two 50 ohm 10w resistors in series negative (tried parallel) and it still throws the code. That seemed to work in the E60, but not E53. They look good, but I have a constant message every time the lights are switched on. What resistor would work? Couldn't find any results with E39's either which I'm thinking is the same electronics.
Thanks.
