Hi Nick, are there any updates on some 4.8iS project someone has been mentioning? If it is i am interested in seeing the thread abd stuff. Also i would like to ask you, what does pay off more, to buy 4.6iS and 6MT swap or on 3.0i put M62? Depending on your answer i will make some decisions for few months. Plus if I get opportunity to do manual swap on 4.6/4.8 iS I would like you to do it

Nick hasn't logged in for 5 months...I'm guessing he's not coming back either.

Hi guys! I'm about to part out my X5. Will be able to send the parts to USA, if someone is interested. Not sure, if I should do a new thread, but I'd sell the complete AWD Getrag S6S 420G kit including the pedals, flywheel/clutch, gearbox coupled on transfer case for anyone, who is still interested in a manual V8 AWD E53.

And even a supercharged M54 would never reach the torque numbers and distribution of any V8s.

400 flywheel HP is the power you can get from a supercharged 4.6l M62, tuned for harmonic power and torque curves, with 10.5:1 compression ratio you can't get over 6 psi, so the 4.4 and 4.6 would be almost the same in terms of supercharging, due to a bit lower compression ratio of 4.4 M62.

What is "track tuned" in case of M54 engine in the X5

What's your boost? With stock RMS-kit boost on stock internals you'll never get nearly to 300 AWHP from M54.

For that kind of power you'll need at least 14-15 psi, agressive cams, forged pistons and reduced compression. Remapping will einther add about 5-10% over your SC baseline or, which is much better will get you a harmonical HP and torque curves for more efficient operation.

Judging from what you said before - there's no technical understanding at all, just some phrases how great the RMS kit is (you repeat it in every posting) and some very fairy tale numbers and statements, without any technical details, which are expected from you, especially after your statement about "15 years experience with performance cars".

I'm not offensive, just waiting for more information.
I’m pushing nearly 500hp now Nick. LoL.. On the same setup.

Nick, I'm scared to ask what you're asking for the whole setup. That said, have you considered selling the CAD files for the fabricated pieces between the trans and transfer case?

500AWHP? I knew Meth made you do crazy stuff but 500hp, good lord. I wonder what the 4.6 would do on ethanol and meth with a little boost.

No, no… Not WHP LoL..

On paper, it should be at about 440 hp - 460 hp at the flywheel.

Last I checked my boost gauge I was pushing 11lbs, with a couple of minor boost leaks. It supposed be 11 - 12 lbs anyway. So with a baseline hp of 230 hp for my M54B30, plus 12 lbs of boost (leaks have been fixed) which equals 168 hp (12 lbs boost X 14 flywheel hp per lb of boost = 168) my supercharged baseline hp is 398 flywheel hp.

Now the headers increased the power substantially initially. But, now that the system has adapted to them, I have noticed a solid power increase. So I feel it’s safe to say that they added more than say 5 or 10hp. Remember this setup is FI, so power is generally doubled, sometimes tripled with the addition of certain parts (down pipes, etc). I’ve seen a good down pipe add 60hp on some setups.

Now the ethanol is a whole different story. Last I checked I was running 81% ethanol, 19% gasoline. This fuel has completely changed the dynamics of how this setup functions. It increased the torque substantially. And, it runs the top end to redline without hesitation (top end was pulling a bit of timing on pure gasoline). So now the power is solid from 1000 to 7000 rpm. Zero issues now.

I am no longer injecting meth. Now I am injecting 80% pure ethanol, mixed with 20% distilled water (it is still flammable by the way). This is done progressively by pedal position, rpm’s, and follows the fuel injector pulse. As the pedal and engine speed increase, the more ethanol/water mixture is injected. I can run my X without this system activated, with zero knock due to the high % ethanol fuel I am running. When the system is activated, it adds more fuel making more power (the small amount of water is to cool the boost, water absorbs heat). This also allows more boost (12 lbs in my opinion is the limit for a stock M54 if you want it to last). This system is no longer used as a knock suppressor. It is used as an additional fuel source. More fuel more power. But, only if your setup is tuned for it. Mine is..

So with my blown baseline being 398 hp, I am pretty sure the headers, ethanol fuel, and additional ethanol injection is capable of producing another 100 hp. But for me, 40 - 60 hp is good for me. Maybe one day I’ll strap her up LoL.. But, the times I’ve had so far with M3’s, M5’s, Mustangs, etc. new and old, a dyno run for me personally is pretty pointless.

A M62TUB46 has 340 hp. So with 6 lbs of boost, the baseline would be about 424 flywheel hp with a proper tune, without headers. An ethanol fuel conversion (not a tune) should give 30 - 50 additional hp. Meth injection would not be applicable here. So in my opinion a 4.6 would put out about 464 flywheel hp. Not bad..!

You definitely need to buy Nick’s conversion! LoL.. There are only three manual AWD E53’s that have over 300 hp in existence to my knowledge. The X5LM (6.0 700 hp), Nick’s (4.6 340 hp), and OLe’GiRL (3.0 460 hp).
