belt tensioner a/c ac temp gauge crazy

Happy 2013 !

So, I was in normal traffic, first thing I notice, the steering wheel was hard to turn. a few minutes later, I get a message to check my temp gauge, and it was all the way to red ! so I pulled over, turned it off. I peeked at the engine, the belts were destroyed and all tangled up.

So my friend tows me home, next morning, I realize the belt tensioner bolt for the a/c broke, causing the belt to get entangled in the water pump and well...so I was able to get a new bolt, new belts, car started up fine, and sounded smooth, after 'bout 40 minutes worth of driving, everything lit up, went to Trans fail safe, and I noticed the temp gauge go nuts, from high, to low, to med temp.

Even this morning, the car being cold, you could see the temp gauge go to red, then back to blue.

I don't think something really messed up happened (wishful thinking), since the car ran fine for a while.......any ideas? guesses?

thanks!!!

How did you tow your car?, was it on a flat bed truck I hope? Because you can damage your transfer case and more by regular towing.

It was not a flat bed, we towed it with an F150, car with the accesories light on, and of course, in neutral, and started acting up crazy after a while of driving, I will try to get a GT1 tonight to see what comes up! thanks!!

How many miles did you tow it, and at what speed?
Automatic transmissions, without the engine running, don't have lubrification since the oil pump is not working. Automatic cars can be flat tow, but for a short distance and at low speed.

Check your battery, your alternator could be the problem. It may not be able to charge the battery or your battery is on it final legs.
