Air Suspension issue on my 4.8is

Some of you may have been following my story over on Bimmerfest and I'd just like to let you know that the matter has now been resolved. BMW have agreed to replace my car with a new one and accept that the problems I encountered were unacceptable.

It's good to see BMW finally accepting responsibility and doing the honourable thing.

That is excellent news!! I'm glad to hear that BMW has stepped up and is doing the right thing.

Before you let the current one go, stick a vehicle tracking chip somewhere on it and see where it ends up. Chances are, they'll resell it to someone that doesn't know any better.

Are you planning on sticking with the current color scheme? Personally, I love it!!

I'm going for ..

Le Mans Blue
Black Nappa Sports Seats
Smoke Grey Poplar Trim
Alu Running Boards
Grad Tint
Pano Roof
Heated/Folding mirrors
Sun Protection Glass
Electric rear seats
Heated rear seats
Adaptive Headlights
Hi-Fi DSP
Comms Pack (with digital TV!)

I'm going for Black leather rather than the Cream Beige because I've finally accepted that life's too short to spend every weekend cleaning the leather Also much as I loved the Light Poplar Trim, I would like to choose something else so that it 'feels' like a different car to the one I'm letting go.

Also with my first car I had to inherit the spec since I adopted someone else's order, whereas this time I get to choose exactly what we want.

Excellent choices

I'm assuming the Comms Pack includes the Nav system Personally, I wouldn't buy a new vehicle these days without Nav!

Yes, Comms Pack here in the UK includes NaV System with colour monitor, TV and Text, BMW Professional Radio and Bluetooth Phone prep.

Also Smoke Poplar Trim is equivalent to the Anthracite you guys have in the US.

That's great news.

Excellent specs on the new 4.8, Steve. And I agree it's good to get something different. Congrats on a brand new X and best of luck with her.

Quick question: I know sun protection glass is probably same as comfort glass but what's grad tint? Gradient tint? Never heard before.

Sun Protection Glass is the 35% tint on rear and back windows. The Grad Tint is a heavy green tint on the first 3-5 inches at the top of the front windscreen.

Duh, Sun protection glass = Privacy glass. Shoulda known that.

Grad tint looks like it's very useful. Wish we can get it over here. But doesn't every car has something like that built in?

Wink

Congrats on your hard-won battle, Steve. Not many people have this wealth of knowledge on BMW vehicles as you do and it's been always nice to read your posts.
