rear camber kit

has anyone fitted a rear camber kit to there e53

since ive lowered my car the camber adjusting bolt is at its maximum and i still have to much negative camber ( actually its probably ok by BMW standards)

all suspension bushes etc are good , new rear shocks, but huge inner tyre wear

which i did not have prior to lowering

315,s on 20 inch rims,

i know camber correction kits are available and i can get one here in Australia for a reasonable price, but im wondering if anyone here has been down that path and what was involved and what the results were.

I know there have been a few that have done the kmac kit with generally positive reviews. It does what its suppose to, and has adjustment from -2.0 to +2.0 degrees. If i recall correctly they aren't exactly a fun time to put in though. How soon are you planning to do it? (I'm asking because I too am planning on the kmac rear kit come spring)

I've got to do it soon as my rear tyres are getting hammered, im due for new tyres in about 10,000 km and want to get the camber sorted first, ive contacted Kmac as they are a local company, and will probably order the kit from them in the next couple of weeks.

i hoped someone may have already gone down this path and might have pics or a write up.

i do about 36,000 km per year and 20 inch tyres are expensive here in Aus, so i can't run long term with the camber ive presently got.

I haven't seen a how-to specifically, but I know in and amongst the threads for this sort of thing there has been real-oem part diagrams quoted with what the kmac kit replaces.....if you piece it all together they should give you an idea as to what has to come apart and a game plan for doing so.

You guys are dialing out ALL of the rear toe-in, right? I am running a ton of negative camber in the rear and my tires have worn relatively evenly, compared to some of the tires I've seen pics of.

Also, I know you said rear suspension is good.. What mileage is on it? The rear suspension has a certain trick to testing it... There is a YouTube video on it.

Even though my tire wear isn't an issue, I'd like a simpler way to reduce negative camber. I think it's a bit of a design flaw from BMW, guessing they did it to keep soccer moms from spinning out.

No, were dialing out the negative camber. If you have a ton of negative camber the insides of your tires WILL wear faster.

Although my camber is within bmw's spec I want to remove a bit more of it come summer. The factory spec is a bit much IMO.

They made it for you to be able to take a high speed turn and not lose it.

On a second note, can you guys take picks how your rear wheels look. I'll take a pic of mine for comparison. I have negative camber, a lot, and nothing wrong with wear. I just want to see. I know toe is what eats tires, not a healthy amount negative camber.

I concur, but as I'm close to the lower limit last time I had an alignment when I go another 1/4" lower come spring, will probably be over the limit. I'm not saying remove all, just a small portion, and want greater flexibility when it comes to adjustment. Like yourself, I to have not had any issues with the insides wearing faster on the 315's. I now have 2 summers on them and they have even tread wear. By "healthy" amount of negative camber I assume you mean still with in reason? Excessive negative will eat though tires as well (specifically the inside edge).

You need to get rid of the toe. Camber is akin to walking on the inside of your shoe. Toe is the equivalent of dragging your shoe across the ground. One can get away with running a lot of camber if the toe is zeroed out. The camber on my X5 is at -1.8* (as little as I could get it) with 0 toe and have no tire wear issues.
