4.6is engine startup
Im looking at buying a 2002 x5 4.6is with 72k miles on it. It seems to stumble upon startup, can all of you give me your feedback on what's up with it?

It's trying to start then it seems to die then fire up all of the sudden, all within 1.5-2seconds

Mine did that when I bought it too. Sitting on the dealer lot, maybe they put cheap gas in it, I dont know. I ran some Techron through it, got fresh gas in it and took a couple long road trips (100+ miles) and its been good since.

Not sure your symptoms are the same, but mine would start hard and sometimes idle rough for a period of time.

The website lists the motor as a 6.0 litre with MPI. What is MPI and when did the 4.6 come with a 6.0 motor?. Be careful with these guys. Make sure you check everything out before committing on this one.

Ok... I also found an 02 4.6is in estoril blue with 117k miles but it has very extensive maintenance records including new chain guides and tensioners for $13995
