I have 4 HF 3 ton and they work fine, but too short for me, I want to get the SUV stand which is 23inches high.

In my world the most dangerous part is lifting the vehicle, once it is on stands it is relatively safe. (after doing the drunk walk bump check)...

Pay attention to the min/max heights of different jack stands. I tend to stay away from the max height, but I also have multiple sets ans sizes suitable to hold full size Chevy's with 7" lift and 38" tires...

I can't advise going cheap on safety equipment.

That said, I have two sets (2 and 3 ton) and they are rated per pair. Keep that in mind. With the X5, it's nice and high so go for the higher rating. I had to get smaller stands for my M3 as the 3 ton stands do not fit even at highest jack point.

Hello all,

I wanted to see if someone can confirm if this floor jack/jack stand combination will work for the 3.0 X5

Craftsman 3 ton High Lift Jack Stands - Item #00950159000
The min height is 13" max height is 21"

used in conjunction with:

Craftsman 3 ton Service Jack - Item #00950139000
The min height is 5.5" max height is 19"

I heard people saying weight is 6,000 lbs, but the sticker on my front door says roughly 4,700 lbs.

Thanks in advance!

You will be fine. Stop over thinking it. All the jack stands you buy are made in the same factory. You entire entire entire vehicle weighs 4700lbs. These stands are rated considerably more and that's assuming the whole vehicle weight is on one stand.

And whomever said wood over plastic? Do me a favor, fire up your gaslamp, head down to the news stand and get the paper. Check the date. Welcome to the 21st century.

If all you are going to do is change the oil, go with the rhino ramps. If your need to do brakes etc, then get a jack and stands combo. I have used the same jack for 18 years and was pleasantly surprised that it lifted the x5 clear without blocking unlike my last two jeeps.

Yes, except jack stands are rated by pair, so the 3 ton stands hold ~1600lbs each.

1 ton = 2000 lbs

3 ton stands rated by pair = 6000 lbs

Indeed, I hadn't had any coffee at the time of posting. I was confusing British tons with metric tons and making something up in the middle.

Cheers.
