![]() Sorry to hear about your timing chain guides. I suppose I was 'lucky' then. Back in late 2010 http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...ide-rails.html mine went one very cold morning upon start-up. So I had a good mechanic friend of mine do them for me as I was too busy and too cold (minus degrees and no garage) to even think about attempting it ![]() Funny thing is I am so looking forward to putting him back together with everything tip-top. It would explain the minor leaks here and there, the sluggishness (found oil in 2 spark plugs-even though I did the VCG's 3 years ago :/), the intake manifold and throttle body caked in fresh oil, and the VP gasket having seen better days ![]() Edit: Just remembered I've just put a new timing chain tensioner in also. Such a good thing to do (maybe even yearly) as the spring had gone in the (3 yr) old one.. Also, found it was easier to just crack the 17mm off with a ring spanner and take it out by hand rather than use a socket/ratchet etc that all the posts I had read re this say to get in there with a socket. I fiddled for nearly half an hour with all the different combinations, then I just thought I'd try a spanner. BINGO! you only need to crack it off then wind out with your fingers.. Re-fit is reverse
