Instead of having to find a non Vanos motor with just bottom end damage, why not remove the Vanos from the M62 you already have? Or was the M62 a short block? There are adapter kits made just for this purpose designed for race motors.

I'll sell the 4.6 as whole, so basically I'll build up a new M62 and the only part I'll take from the current 4.6 is the AWD oil pan.

A damaged M62B44 costs about 300 Euro in Germany, from which I'll only get the non-vanos heads for the new B44 block and oil pan for the current 4.6 to sell it complete and working.

Orig. BMW X5 e53 4,6 is V8 Motor 93ooo km mit Anbauteile 347ps Alpina B10 | eBay

BMW X5 E53 Motor M62 4,6is V8 engine 468S1 / M62B46S1 4.6is M62TUB46 Alpina B10 | eBay

The 4.6l engines are very in demand, so according to my calcualtions it's the best way to sell it complete and not just the block.

HOLY CRAP THOSE ARE CHEAP PRICES. I have been searching for about 2 mos now and those M62 motors here sell for 1400 bucks AS A CORE!!! meaning they have things wrong with them. good ones are over 2000 US currency.

the salvage yards here gouge the hell out of people because it says BMW on it. forget trying to find a private party around me either. they all go o the junk yards. and no one wants to sell them.

In reality that motor should cost no more than a chevy or ford motor. but because it says BMW on it look out.

just had to rant.

2000$ seem reasonable for a very good complete M62B44 TU, I was talking about some damaged non-vanos engines.

pop the heads off

Rebuild that motor , the bottom ends are bullet prof find me one that a rod went through the block .Now if you had water in the oil thats a different story. Do the heads and guides reuse the chains replace the timing chain guides and get a vanos tool kit to hold the cams in place .Did the engine burn oil ? DId the chain wear a hole in timing chain cover ? I would take the heads off and take them to a good machine shop and see if they could straighten the valves and reuse them if not just replace them . How do You know it bent the valves ? ?

i know the valves are bent as there is no compression, and 100 percent leak down in two cylinders so far. and yes I know how to use a leak down guage. its just not time well spent for me to tear that rig down and sit and rebuild that motor and end up spending almost the same money as the motor I found with 64k on it.

I plan on new chain guides and front cover gaskets, rear main seal, oil pan gasket on this motor. It has a 2 year warranty so if head gasket goes later one then so be it. Basicly I will refresh anything that is not easily changed in the car while motor is out.

well recieved the donor motor today.

64k on odo, verified all services at BMW in honolulu, and seattle area.

Good news is there is no core charge, I even had to call the salvage yard and ask.

SO I have a core 4.4 motor if anyone needs parts from wiring harness to oil pan.

let me know
