I just can't get over how less brake dust is being produced.
Yep. I have the Akebono ceramics on all four corners and they leave virtually no visible dust. Even had to get into ABS yesterday when things on the road went awry... They don't have the initial torque of the stock pads, but they work just fine. I've even towed a small Uhaul with no drama at all. Not sure I'd put a huge trailer back there w/these though...

Put Brembo pads on my stock calipers for $50 per corner.

I've tried Akebono's..

I was amazed that there was no dust -
But they didn't compare to OE , didn't have the same initial bite,

Then I tried Cool Carbon's;

I had high hopes, but the dust returned and although better performing than Akebono, after a year now with Cool Carbon's they just don't compare at all, to whatever BMW used originally-

BMW OE - great bite,
hot or cold, OE just perform flawlessly (except piles of dust!).

So I'm going back to BMW pads,

Except this time I'm going to try a set Australian made DBA rotors,
I've used DBA disc rotors on other cars,
they never warp,
and they just scream quality...

back to factory rotors for me. I already switched back to factory pads months after installing the Cool Carbons. Just need to find out the OE Rotor manufacturer

I'm using Stoptech ceramics as that is what came with my Brake Motive rotors. Pedal feel is definitely different (little less initial bite), but the X stops great, and the dust is cut down substantially.

Cost was amazing as well for the 4.8is though I forget exactly what it was. I think I have it in my mod/maintenance thread.

Reporting back after 2 years on the rear brakes using Hawk Performance Street Pads. Changed fronts also to same Hawk Performance Street Pads, because I was extremely pleased how they worked, and now I can confirm they are a great choice. Rear rotors are the Cryo treated Centric rotors, When I tried to fit the same brand for the fronts, I noticed the seller shipped me rotors for the 4.8 which are bigger than the ones for the 4.4
Ended up with a no-name brand, plain rotors on the front with said Hawks. Stopping power is very good and almost no dust.

If anyone of you 4.8 guys need front rotors, I have the Cryo treated Centrics FS.

Once home, I will let you know. Those things are heavy and I hope Canadapost won't charge an arm and a leg.
