Crazy beeping inside cabin

Hey all. Having a loud beeping noise occur inside the cabin. 2006 4.8is

It sounds like either 4 or 6 beeps, in rapid succession "beepbeepbeepbeepbeepbeep" (all within like 1 second) and has a very "piezo"/alarm type sound to it (not the normal "chime"/ding you get with the speed warning or memo etc.) Very loud and high pitched.

Sounds like it's coming from either the passengers side, or the homelink/garage door opener console.

No warnings or other indicators. Happens completely randomly while driving or parked.

If I had to guess I would think it was the sound you get when you disconnect and airbag or some similar severity issue, but nothing is showing up to show fault anywhere.

I've already cleared/reset the memo and speed warnings, but it still happens.

Anyone ever experience anything like this?

Your description sounds similar to what happened to my 99 540iT just before the amp went silent....forever.

I would hear 6 high-pitched "beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep"... just as you described. Next time you hear it, try to see if the sound is coming from behind the rear right cargo area (where your amp is located). If one day soon you lose all audio from your radio/cass/CD ... then you'll know that your amp went t!ts up.

BTW...the e38/e39/e53 uses the same amp except that it is coded to each model based on its interior's dynamic dimensions and how it's audio system is optioned. If you would happen to need a used one in the near future, you can "shop" for one from any of the aforementioned BMWs...but just know that the amp will need to be coded to your BMW to prevent it from having a muddled sound...unless you find one from an X5 that is optioned just like yours. And there are two types of amps...DSP & non DSP.
