Just bought an X5,newbie (Pics)

Hello i just bought a 2003 Grey green X5 5-speed with grey interior. It is BMW certified until 9/09 or 100k. It has 24k miles. Pics are below

I will take delivery on the car tomorrow or possibly thursday. As of now I have already bought 4.4 dual mufflers and I am looking to get:
20" 4.6 replica wheels, add 4.6 body kit, clear side markers, clear headlights, and clear tailights.
For the interior I have not yet decided. As I dont have NAV, I am thinking an eclipse navigation/dvd double din head unit, or maybe an avic-n1, followed by headrest lcd's.
Afterwards maybe angel eyes and the car should be done.
What do you guys think? Any experience with replicas? Has anyone done any of these mods?

Thanks and I look forward to becoming part of this forum

Nice choice, and welcome! I love the color.. My friend has an XC90 in nearly the same color. It's nice. And NICE CHOICE on the 5-speed! Definitely go for the angel eyes... I'm going to install some on my 3-series in a month or so. Yes to the 4.6 equipment, too... And are you going to put on OEM 4.4 exhaust or are you going for an aftermarket setup?

Welcome to X5world.

Just about every mod you referenced has been done at some point or another. Most if not all are documented on the main page of this site at http://xoutpost.com

Browse that and if you have questions please feel free to fire away.

Congrats on the new X5!!

yeah my main question is where are the best places to buy all these mods? I have lloked at a 4.6 body kit from eurorev.com on ebay for I think $675, or should I just buy the lips form BMW? I also want to buy lights in clear and replica 20"s I saw that they have them on ebay, and also on a forum on this website, I have also seen them from AAArims.com. and where can I get headrest lcds for the X5, I have seen some only in bavauto.com which are made to match the trim in the x5. As far as plastic housings for the radio I have only found conversion for single din, I want to install a double din navigation/dvd in the front. Any advice is greatly apreciated

For the stereo/TV portion I'd highly recommend Sound in Motion , they are on Brighton Av/corner Commonwealth Av in Allston. They are great guys and have plenty of experience with high-end audio and BMWs. They have done my car which you can find on their website. The website is http://www.sound-in-motion.com . If you want to check their work in person I'd be happy to meet you at their shop as well.
Their install rates are very reasonable (~65$) and the work is probably the best on east coast. Derek (owner of SIM) is a great guy and they'll be happy to advise you on options/choices without any push towards a quick sale.

They have a whole host of installations at http://www.sound-in-motion.com/installs.html , there's also been an article on a number of different type of installs at http://www.sound-in-motion.com/mag_a..._trio/001.html

Congrats!! Grey green is a color that you don't see too often so it's very unique. All the mods you're thinking of doing will enhance the X5's looks tremendously.

I have the same color combo and its indeed rare. I just bought 20" replicas w/ Toyo Proxes, $2200 shipped cross-country from CA to MD, excellent quality and price. I bought my clear tails and sides from ebay, however, I chose not to change out the headlights, as you'll need to change out the entire headlight (unless you want to disassemble which is highly not recommended).

Can't help you on your sound system upgrade, as I just have the Premium w/ DSP and CD Changer. Just a word of caution, if you install an aftermarket setup, you'll lose steering wheel controls and onboard computer functions. I don't have NAV either (and regret that I didn't get it upfront) and went the portable GPS route, Garmin StreetPilot.

Enjoy your ride!!
