Rear Shocks - Easy Peasy

Swapped the rear shocks today. One was blown. Easiest maint. item to swap to date.

Did not even need to get the jack/jackstands out. Removed top nuts, bottom bolt - swap with the preassembled new unit and viola, all done.

Bilstein is a nice upgrade. Part number: BIL 24-107440 from these guys: AJUSA.com. cheapest vendor I found online. Took a couple of weeks to get them but if you're not in a hurry . . . .

I have the sports suspension on my 4.4 and these are definitely an upgrade. the part number I listed above is actually for the 4.4 with sports suspension. most vendors have the description listed incorrectly as not for the rear self-leveling - sports suspension.

I went OEM - as it's sport suspension and I could not find one that was *dampened* to OEM specs. The bumpstop as well for the sport pkg is specific

Shocks are probably the best suspension maintenance item. I would encourage everyone to seriously consider replacing or rebuilding shocks every 50-75k miles.

You didn't even need to jack it up to swap them? Sweet! Mine need to be replaced too, but I was waiting for when I tear the rest of the rear end apart to do it; might have to move that item up a bit.

Tried bilsteins on the wifes E90. Too harsh. Went back to OEM.

Not sure how stiff Sport Pkg. Specs on the shocks compared to non. For those that do the homework, the part# for the bumptstop is specific to a sport package. When I did the fronts 6 months ago, I went with OEM as well.
