P0741 on a 2002 4.6is

Hey guys,

Just read up on the posts about this code.. I assume its a TC failure..

Since the code just popped on, what is the best option here. To do a tranny and TC flush? As well as replace filters and solenoid? I'm not very good with these parts--confuse the hell out of me. Just let me know what to tell my tranny guy to do...

We're experiencing rough downshifts...

2002 4.6is with 120k miles

I have the same code on my '03 4.6is, It comes and goes, maybe once a month. I feel no issue with the tranny whatsoever. Everyone I have spoken with has advised me to NOT tamper with the tranny in any way. Changing fluid will only cause more harm than good. I also have 120k miles by the way.

Regarding the rough downshifts, I believe there was a tranny software update at some point in late '02 or early '03 that improved performance. Find an indy with a GT1 or Autologic and latest software packages and update your engine and tranny. It could help with that issue at least.
