OEM Hitch install

I have a 2006 X5 4.4 that I am in the process of installing a hitch. I am at the part where I attach the tow bar to the truck with spacers. My kit did not include spacers.

The parts guy asked for my vin when i ordered stating that there were options and with the vin he would send the correct kit. The instructions call for spacers but is that generic or do all X5 hitches need the spacers?

Stuck at this point until I find out the answer.

Thanks

Ryan

I installed the OEM hitch on my 2005 4.4.. It was a few years ago but I don't recall the kit having spaces or needing them... Where are the spaces supposed to go exactly?

They look exactly like the pentagon shaped bumper supports that bolted into the frame.

interesting - i thought, there was only one part OE hitch for E53, regardless of the rear bumper trim... maybe i am wrong...

do you know how to use the RealOEM? throw in your VIN number and see what hitch kit comes up... here is one of my VINs for you to test, LN78208, a 2002 model...

I installed without the spacers. I do not think I would have had long enough bolts if I would have used the spacers. We will see. Evertyhing is nice and tight.
