Drivers window CLACK noise when closing, regulator going?

When I closed my driver's side window this morning, I heard a loud CLACK sound... almost sound like something snapped. I opened and closed it again, and it made the noise again about 2" from the top position. The window closed all the way and didn't appear to slow down or anything.

I know problems with window regulators are common on X5s... is this an indication that mine's going break soon? If it's a sure sign of impending failure, I'd rather replace it now than have it get stuck down while driving.

get plastic clip from dealer, don't run the glass anymore, get it fixed before the cable tangles up... total cost about $5 plus your labor...

Yes do it now. I didnt and it costed me replacement of the entire regulator. When I took it out, the cable was tangled.

Hmmm mine kind of clicks when I roll it down. About 2/3 of the way down it just makes a clicking sound. It doesn't slow down or anything though. When I bought it(3 weeks ago) the previous owner said that he had replaced the motor or something like that. Should I get it checked again or is there something I can do myself?

Right now, mine's not an issue and I'm hoping it won't become one. I was just wanting to get my 2 cents in since I did hear something and the previous owner said he replaced the motor.

two clips - front door
one clip - rear door

the RealOEM has picture of the clip too... mine are white, the picture is black... it is plastic, so the color is not imperative...

How easy is it just to replace the plastic clips? Is it much easier than replacing the entire regulator or is it pretty much in the same ballpark? Thanks.
