Looking to get an X5 has to be an E model

im looking to get an x5 it has to be an E model over the F model as i will be getting it modified for hand controls and the E models are easier to get modified over the F model.

how can I, a novice tell what x5 is more likely to be an E model over an F model

i am looking for a used x5 and so would like any input on how i could tell them apart

Thanks for any help

if you are looking for electronic modifications, you don't want E70 - you probably are looking for an E53... E53 was manufactured from september of 1999 upto august/september of 2006.

this is a very strange approach to get a car but if it works for you, than it works for you...

good luck

Did you mean E70 and E53? Left is E53. right is E70. Thats how you tell. Hope that will help.

what mods are you talking about? setting up a track car with rolling cage? or dropping in 10,000 Watt sound system? or swapping stock engine for a V12 Le Mans?

Nothing like that lol just hand controls for the accelerator and brake most likely the jeff gosling version as well as a Bluetooth conversion to the indicators and the other controls like the wipers and stuff they will be controlled with a Bluetooth button mod with a device like the lodgesons R200 WIRELESS BLUETOOTH CONTROLS

is this a handicapped conversion? has the company done such conversions to a BMW? in the US there is a requirement that a conversion can be done only to automatic transmission cars. not sure about UK. E53 is using iBus to run the controls, and the iBus has been well documented...

E70 will not work as it is using the MOST system, not easily tapped system...

depending on your purse, try to find a specimen that is as close to the end of production as possible - most of the known bugs have been worked out of the car... production of E53 ended in august/september of 2006
