Red/Smoke is the way to go on a black or dark vehicle.

Nice, that's the look I'm going for. What do you have in the front and do you have the smoked sides?

Red smoked does looks good. I got mine unopened brand new in box for $80 So I couldn't pass up the deal. Besides it will go better with the all blacked out look for me. Too each his/her own.

I Have clear lights up front (I opened the housing and removed the yellow side piece, added angel eyes, added invisi-bulbs for side markers) I also have smoked side fender markers.

these are OEM by Hella, made in Germany to TUF standards, bearing E-mark, unfortunately nothing like that is available for E53...

My search for lights has been a long frustrating road to say the least, as rear options are rather limited and hard to find....but here's my input.

The lights below, (distributed through Mars Performance out of Australia), are produced by a company called "Eagle Eyes Traffic Ind. Co Ltd, which bears an E-mark certificate (amongst others)....their E53 tails are also FMVSS 108 certified. So they appear (on paper at least) to have some quality behind them. As far as LED rears are concerned, these IMO, are the only option as I simply don't trust the quality of the Ebay units. Now obviously these are quite a bit more than their Ebay counterparts around the $320 - $350 range per set.

I contacted Mars regarding shipping to Canada, but have yet to hear back. I'm also waiting to hear back from Eagle Eyes to see if they have any North American distributors, or if the lights available directly from them in Taiwan. The e53 units aren't listed on their site, but ARE still available through MARS...making it a sourcing hassle. Regardless, if I don't hear anything back by early next week I'll get on the horn (instead of emailing) and get some definitive answers as I am also in need of some new lights!

speaking of this LED lights - has anyone tried to modify the coding line in the facelifted LCM coding to accomodate the LED lights?

The facelifted units have the Brake Distribution Force (BDF) signal that makes the lights flicker (separate from the Cold Monitoring flicker) and I was wondering, if activating that line in the programming code would eliminate the flickering...

just a theory, that i can not test...

T, if I am successful in tracking down a set of these LED tails....I'll give it a whirl if no one else does before then!
