It probably wont fix it, already tried it earlier this week, made a thread..
http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...idle-pics.html Another thing im going to be trying this week is doing an oil change and going with 5w-20 Mobil1 Full syn, I got the car at 63.5k and i changed the oil and filter at around 64kish with castrol edge full syn 5w-30, come to think of it, i dont think it smoked before my oil change when i got it which makes me think was there a lighter oil in there before? Pnoy said another 4.8is person with same prob changed theirs to a lighter oil and it fixed it, cheap to try so i dont mind changing it again, im already 3k in on this oil and i plan on changing it every 5-6k so we'll see. Edit: I actually hope you see this before you take it in tommorow, its extremely quick and easy DIY, if you can do an oil change or replace a filter you can do this.

Well, I took it in and so far so good, I'm smoke-free!
They replaced the Crankcase Vent Valve (pressure regulating valve qty 2). That's all they did and like I said, they tested it and I drove it to work and thus far, no smoke. To be fair, I'll know for sure tomorrow when I am stuck in traffic tomorrow morning. |

Leave it running in the parking lot for 15 20 minutes, dont touch the gas! and then come back and step on the gas and rev it hard and see if smoke comes out

It seems that pretty much everyone who owns a 48is with the N62 is having the exact same puff-o-smoke problem. I drake the cool-aid and replaced my CCV's also and saw all of the oil residue that was being pulled back into my intake, just like everyone else.... With that being said, I am going to do plugs on mine in a few weeks and that *should* tell the real story.
Is there anyone out there with a 48is w/ N6248B that does NOT have the puff-o-smoke problem?
