I think the $20 Bosch rebate has expired, I bought mine on the deadline "purchase by" day.
If I need it I have bookmarked the page, thats a damn good battery for about $110 after SECRET35 code and core charge

No doubt.

I was planning on replacing the battery in a few months, saw that deal and jumped on it.

SECRET35 looks like it runs out tomorrow, 3/7. I just bought mine online and will be picking it up tonight. My Duralast in my car is an 8/12 but I figure it won't last much longer. For $110 after core and rebates, I think it's worth it to just replace it now.

The meters at two local parts shops show a bad diode in my alternator. Sigh. Occasional trifectas, as well as just the 'no AWD' light kicking on. I have the Bosch compact -599 120 amp alt in it, so I'm leaning toward getting a Bosch reman unit from autohausaz at $199 [after core return] unless you guys convince me otherwise. I will do it myself [I'll get the 32mm fan tool off ebay] when I also pull the transfer case gear and this time replace it [I have the part; maybe 10k miles ago, just turned it] since I also get the tell-tale 'click' occasionally. Frustrating, especially since the alt. was replaced less than 30k miles ago when I bought the vehicle. That said, it is a 9 y/o vehicle .....

Hey at least you figured it out. I'd replace it and be done with it.

You can replace the voltage regulator, you do not have to get the entire alternator.

This might be the wrong unit, but you need Item 2,

RealOEM.com * BMW E53 X5 3.0i Generator single parts 120A Bosch

Pardon my ignorance, but I thought the six? diodes in the alt were internal and different from the voltage regulator. If a diode problem, I have to replace the alt, and not just the VR, correct?

Would the steps be the same or similar on the air cooled alternators? I think us I6 guys have the non-watercooled one
