2005 4.4 with new engine vs 2008 4.4 with 58K miles

As some of you know, I had a new engine placed recently in my 2005 X5 with 80K miles ( 500 miles on new Engine). It has premium and cold weather packages. I put Avic Z110 with rear view camera in it.

When I was at dealer, a 2008 4.8 X5 caught my eye. it is fully loaded and is CPOed until 04/14. If money wasnt an issue( i am just saying), would it be stupid to get this one with 58k miles on the motor compared to my current ride which has under 1000 miles on the motor.

Yeah, e70s are not as well made as the e53 was. Also the 4.8 e70 is nothing compared to the 4.8 e53

Define "new" engine.

You must have paid a fortune for that new motor? You won't really get a lot of that $ back when you sell/trade. You can now drive the X trouble free for another 75k miles.

The E70 is a step up in a lot of ways but the price point is also a step up. The CPO is definitely a selling point, but the depreciation will kill any cost savings from CPO repairs. CPO is worth a lot in "peace of mind".

Without knowing the exact costs it is hard to say. My personal feeling would be to put some miles on the new motor and enjoy it for a while. If you have $ falling out of your ears then go for the E70.

Thanks for the compliment... You could always go for a 4.6 or E53 4.8.

Motor was replaced under warranty.. would it make sense to move up to e70 if I didn't have to pay a lot for e70
