I have just fitted a new delivery pump to my x5 2003 diesel (145000 miles) the electric one on right hand side of the fuel tank.. and still no fuel at under bonnet fuel filter , I can hear the new pump operating...and over half tank of fuel
I have tried many many times to start to the point my battery gave out , so new battery fitted and still no fuel getting up to the fuel filter... What could the problem be i'm fast running out of options has i need car to beon the road yesterday

I can’t speak from experience on the x5, but can you disconnect the fuel line at the fuel pump, and put on a temp hose into a container, turn key on and see if the new pump is definitely pumping fuel? If so then disconnect hose at engine end, plug pump end hose back in and turn key on a few times, if no fuel, likely a blockage somewhere in the hose..

(My x5 has a fuel filter underneath the car, hidden behind a bash plate, left hand side I think.. maybe yours has the same and that might be blocked)

Diesel has a low pressure pump at the tank to get the fuel too the high pressure pump in the engine bay.

I usually start by looking at the real OEM page to see what parts are involved in the system. I'm betting that the high pressure pump is the fault.
