You bought a dice

Okay, j/k, but seriously those things are buggy, and X5's electrics can be buggy. Many many people that have had them have reported a whole host of issues - most annoying one being it just cutting out until the car is restarted.

I would go back to the root - check all connections. Also disconnect power to the dice and then restart it.

I'm guessing your sound works from your FM/AM radio, just not the dice - if thats the case and all connections are fine and you have restarted it and tried with 2 different ipods, then I would start thinking faulty unit and get it exchanged...

But if the unit is faulty and you get a chance, don't get another dice. Solve this problem and you may find a new one tomorrow.

thanks hey, ive had the unit disconnected for close to a week now and when i reconnect it and gives me the same then i will yank it out and throw it away. What can you suggest that i can use instead of a dice but getting my ipod/phone hooked up? i still want to keep the original look though.

Intravee has to be the way to go. It has great integration into BMW's and the display on the HU's is much better than Dice.

They can be hard to get but google "toysinyourcar" they do them.

I have had the original Dice, the silver model and now the media bridge. I have never had a problem. Each time I upgraded I used the original wiring other than the antenna addition for sat radio on the media bridge. Dice has great technical support that I used a couple of times to more fully understand how to use some of the new features offered on the upgrades. Might be worth it to call Dice before you trash it and read up on the Dice media bridge since the wiring is in place.

I have the Grom USB with Bluetooth unit and IPOD. Don't need to burn CD anymore as I can load the songs on a USB Drive. I have a 16GB drive that is smaller than a nickle.

I created 6 folders on the usb drive to correspond with the 6 cd buttons on the radio, gave the kids one folder and the wife one folder and I have the other 4 folders. Can load close to 3000 mp3 songs on that drive.

thanks guys will do that. on another note though,i want to put an aftermarket amp and sub in my x5. its non dsp with the amp. from other forums ive picked up on how to tap into the speaker wires going into the amp and have actually downloaded some youtube videos. what i want to know is how can i send signal to the door speakers without running new wires which i feel is a hustle.so because i dont want it to be too bass heavy to balance it out i want to also have an amp for the speakers and eventually change the stock speakers aswell when money permits.

1. Try updating the mediabridge firmware. I've had one for 3 years and it has its moments but they got it stable about 6 months ago and no problems since.

2. You shouldn't upgrade the amp without upgrading the speakers. 100% not a good idea. Assuming you are doing speakers too, you can actually reuse the existing wiring for the speakers as well. So you need a 4 channel amp. And a 4 channel loc (but good luck as the BMW uses balanced outputs but not line level balanced like some people claim. Then, you will grab the 4 channels coming in, and run that to your amp. The amp output runs back to he factory amp (which you've disconnected) where you grab the output wires from the amp to feed the speakers right from the trunk. For the fronts when you use a crossover you can split the tweeter so it works pretty well.

I'll try and find my thread on e46fanatics where I walk through this same thing. I've still got a 5 channel amp, sub and all the wiring in my garage waiting to go back into this car. Or not cause I'm not sure it was worth it.
