2002 X5 Tranny Problems Please Help!!!

Hi

Im having a few issues with my X5, the transmission has been showing signs its on it way out for 18 months, but having had to have one changed in the past I decided to just let it go until it went completely. Anyway so last week after a long drive it started slipping in second gear when pulling away at junctions and then the transmission failure warning came up. I left the car for a couple of hours and then it was fine again. A few days later it did it again but this time it didnt go away.

So i got a second hand unit from a breaker had it put in by my local indy picked it up yesterday and after 2 miles it started doing exactly the same again! Im gutted Ive spent £1200 and im back at square one.
I drove it again today in manual pulling away in 1st and then changing up to fourth and it was fine but as soon as i put it back in D it slips then I get a bang as i engages then "transmission Failure" and then it just sticks in 5th which by the way drives fine.

I ve looked on the net and cant find anyone with this problem! any ideas or opinions would be massively appreciated.

Did you get the trans computer from the donor car? On another BMW forum an owner also replace the trans and had problems until he replaced the trans computer from the donor car.
