After they realized an Engine would cost $23,000 brand-new they decided that they would give me $23,000 to settle and they take the car as a total loss because the labor would have cost way more than the car was worth.

i remember a guy at the Lexus dealer i worked at, he took a 1 year old IS-F that was in for an oil change and did a brake stand right in the middle of the Service bays for about a 30 seconds, the customer found out and was not pleased, the lexus tech who did it almost got canned.

Update: Finally they have come to a conclusion and they are sticking with it. There is light at the end of the tunnel after all.

Over the past 23 days we have been waiting for the insurance company to make a decision on what it was that they were going to do. The engine that was shipped out had no markings on it whatsoever as discussed in my previous update, yet the insurance company was still waiting for the company who shipped the motor to come clean with information. That never happened. BMW then contacted the company who pulled the bait and switch (Rondos Auto Parts in TX), who also receive the check for $5500 plus shipping costs of $750. They refused to take the engine back. BMW will deal with them later. BMW then went to the insurance company with a new demand for an amount to either replace the engine out right with a brand new engine or perform the rebuild. After a hefty 2 weeks waiting for the Material Damages Adjuster to come up with a solution, they decided to give BMW the go ahead and rebuild the engine.

BMW Found a place out of California I believe is called Bavarian auto recycling (bmrparts.com) that rebuilds these engines with a great turnaround. This place also places a 5 year warranty on the rebuilt engine.

Needless to say I agreed on it hands down. BMW is in the process to setting up all the arrangements with Bulgaria Auto to ship the motor and get the motor Rebuilt as soon as possible.

I will keep everyone updated if anything changes. As of now I'm stoked! If all goes as planned then it was worth the wait.

To my understanding, yes. Im not sure how badly seized the motor is but it must be repairable. Im guessing that they will send it down there and they will send them a brand new rebuild motor right off their racks. you never know.. I'm thinking that it is Bavarian Auto recycling, I looked it up and they do offer a 5 year warranty on rebuilds. I may just call them and see if they can port my engine for a few bones.. we'll see. Either way I will get my SUV back! So Excited!
