I have interest in the Dynavin system does it provide--

Is it significantly easier to see in daylight?

Is it any easier to enter and store an address for navigation?

Will it support support sirius radio?

What did you feel are the most significant features/benefits?

The features that spiked my interest are as follows:

-Retained functionality of steering wheel, ability to use my USA Spec ipod interface currently installed in the armrest (not sure on that)
-LOOKS AS CLOSE TO OEM AS POSSIBLE (this is probably the biggest thing, I don't like the Eonon/Hualingan since it looks aftermarket to me)
-Decent sound quality
-As good or slightly better sound quality than stock

And my last wish list on the Dynavin would have it be so that I wouldn't have to relocate the OBC to the glovebox, as well as re-wire the DSP and delete the DSP amp, but I don't think it does either of those things.

However, if I was looking to delete the DSP amp and do some serious audio upgrading, the only unit I'd use in my X in lieu of having factory 16:9 navigation would be the Dynavin, hands down.

I'm pretty sure Dynavin can work with DSP. Fmugur did it with his Hualigan, which has the same outputs as Dynavin, Eonon, etc.

As for OBC, you will have to leave the old HU unit in the glovebox & attached, if you want to see the stuff on your dash. Dynavin has some OBC functions, but it seems it buggers up the A/C or HVAC, and now it comes with this function disabled. You can enable it by request (Jeff @ jandtdistributing.com).
The radio sound is improved over all the other models. It uses the double tuner (or similar - which filters the best reception), and the sound is on par with the OEM unit.

Looks pretty much OEM, but the design of the dash is not friendly, and you will have sun glare no matter what you do. Will work best after and before sunset - but this is for any unit.

Would appreciate you input.

I keep asking about the features/benefits of Dynavin. So far I can't see what I would gain over the Dice media bridge I have. I can connect an ipod, iphone ipad direct or by bluetooth, everything works with existing controls I added the sirius radio option and I can even do presets for sat stations. I replaced the DSP amp with a subwoofer, amp and better speakers but I didn't have to do that. There is nothing in the glove box, all is hidden. It was easy to DIY. I did lose my CD player but so what.

I have a hard time justifying that many $$$ if there aren't some additional significant features. I am sure the Dynavin purchasers have done so for a good reason but what is it?

Ricky, have you seen the new Eonon for X5/E39? It's the D5124F Eonon D5124F | Car DVD | Specific Car DVD | Car DVD for BMW E39 1996-2003 / E53 2000-2007

I think it looks more oem than the current dynavin D99+ although not of similar quality. In any case its quality has improved a lot over the Eonon you had - D5124U. The buttons match exactly the rest of the X5/E39 dash buttons and its functionality is much less buggy than the old model you had. I think it's quite decent for the price too -USD $377.

If you have it I'd love to see pics of it in the car, the website makes it look really nice actually. and if you installed with DSP, i'd be interested on how hard it was as well.

Does anyone know if either of these units support any streaming audio services (Spotify, Pandora, etc.) with control from the unit's screen? In other words, sure I could stream music from my phone through the aux input, but is there any built-in functionality so I can control the interface from the unit? Based on the feature descriptions, I'm guessing no.

Is this the unit you have? In what way is it lesser quality than Dynavin D99? Less buggy means there are still bugs? Is anyone satisfied with the Eonon unit?
