drivers automatic door lock stopped working

Hey guys from what ive found from research it looks like my drivers side door lock actuator is toast. this is in a 03 X5 4.4

syptoms: all other doors automatically lock and unlock with remote, all other doors automatically lock when i hit 8mph. all other doors lock and unlock when i hit the button on the center console. only way to lock and unlock the driver door is with the key in the door lock or by pushing down on the lock its self or pulling on the interior handle to unlock it.

is there anything that i can do to fix this unit? i just want to make sure there's no options before i shell out the 200$ to replace it. and also if someone knows cheaper place to purchase the replacement that would be also nice to know!!

you got a lazy lock - known issue... happened to me in costa rica, rear left lock went asleep... by the time i got around to start working on it, the car was in russia, and all of a sudden, the lock started to work... but many misterious things had hapenned in russia - one of our SeaBees brought in a car with disconnected rear speaker, and when he got the car from the russian authorities, everything was working...

back to your issue - when you electronically lock or unlock the car, can you hear any attempts inside the door? i mean, you might need to clean up the crap out of you present lock and lubricate it...

Sounds like a bad actuator.
