Exactly! I just replaced my 02 with the Philip's LED smoke. The inner lights on the Philip's is not LED Only the reverse light work with 3 wire connection. I just want to know how you wire your inner lights or if you can point me to the right direction?

I'm fairly sure mrbmw wired in additional LED strip on the tailgate sections to make it light up, you're right, as you buy them there are no LED's on the inner portions
